Autologuos PLATELET RICHED PLASMA (PRP)
The technology processes the patient’s blood, to use the platelets, cells and proteins for indications in various medical disciplines such as orthopedics, skincare, wound care and ophthalmology. Platelets are the key are key actors of hard and soft tissue repair mechanisms. They provide the essential growth factors (FGF, PDGF, TGF-ß , EGF, VEGF, IGF) involved in stem cell migration, differentiation, proliferation and stimulation of cells such as fibroblasts and endothelial cells, to induce new extracellular matrix deposition and neo-vascularization. Plasma contains many factors essential for cell survival such as nutriments, vitamins, hormones, electrolytes and proteins. Among the plasma proteins, there are the essential molecules for the coagulation process and generation of the fibrin polymer that will serve as a scaffold for cell migration, differentiation and proliferation. Using the patient’s own blood, specially prepared platelet are taken and then re-injected into the affected area under ultrasound guidance to ensure accuracy. These platelets release substances known as “growth factors” that lead to tissue healing. For example, when you cut yourself, the body’s natural response is to attract platelets that release growth factors and facilitate the healing. By concentrating the platelets we increase the release of growth factors, which promotes healing. The human body has a remarkable ability to heal itself and by re-injecting concentrated platelets we are facilitating the natural healing process.
Autologous Platelet Rich Plasma Therapy (A-PRP) is a promising solution to accelerate healing naturally without subjecting patients to significant risk. The philosophy is to merge cutting edge technology with the body’s natural ability to heal. PRP technology was initially developed 20 years ago to aide with wound healing and blood loss. Its benefits are now being applied towards the facilitation of healing tendons, cartilage, muscles, bone, scars, corneal wounds and chronic wounds. In fact, A-PRP has been widely used for years in Europe and the USA to treat various sports injuries.

BEFORE, DURING AND AFTER THE TREATMENT
In order to realise the highest level of efficacy, it’s important to review these pre and post treatment considerations. We’ll review these at the time of making your appointment and answer any questions you may have. By doing so, we’re able to provide the highest level of care while guaranteeing the best results.
BEFORE: Patients should schedule an evaluation to determine if A-PRP is a viable treatment option. An MRI and/or musculoskeletal ultrasound may be done prior to the injection to insure a proper diagnosis and rule out any condition best treated surgically. The A-PRP injection usually takes an hour and is preformed on an outpatient basis. Do not take anti-inflammatories one week before or after the injection as this may limit the treatment benefits.
DURING: Depending on a patient’s condition, a series of 1-3 injections may be required.
AFTER: Initially the procedure may cause some localized soreness and discomfort. It is recommended that patients arrange for someone to drive them home after the procedure. Patients may apply ice and elevation as needed. After one week the patient will likely begin a rehabilitation program with physical therapy. Notify your physician if you have an allergy to lidocaine or bupivicaine (marcaine). If you are unsure, contact your primary physician.
MORE USEFUL INFORMATION ABOUT the PRP:
A full face Vampire Facelift treatment might require 2 full tubes of PRP, while treating the eye-area might require just one. The injection itself lasts from 30 min. up to 1 hour.
This treatment is not “quick fix” and is designed to promote long-term healing. The process of A-PRP requires time and rehabilitation. Patients who follow a course of physical therapy are likely to see the most improvement in the affected area. A-PRP accelerates and shortens the recovery process in chronic injuries and new acute injuries. Through regular follow-up visits your doctor can determine when you are able to resume regular physical activities. Vampire Facelift offers a non-surgical “facelift” with almost zero chance of infection and practically no downtime. For the patients who are not prepared for a more invasive procedure but who want to see dramatic results, the Vampire Facelift will get them on the road to a fresh appearance with reduced wrinkles and fewer deep lines.
Patients can expect to see significant improvement in symptoms; elimination of need for more traditional treatments such as medications, cortisone inceptions or surgery; and a dramatic return of function.
Although very uncommon, the risks include those signs/symptoms associated with an injection including: pain, infection, no relief of symptoms, worsening of symptoms, blood clot, nerve injury, skin discoloration, calcification, scarring, loss of fat to the affected area, and allergic reaction. After the injection, if you experience any of the above side effects, please contact your doctor.
In principle, all parties can benefit from PRP therapy. The procedure is performed in an outpatient setting without the need for special training. Not recommended intake of anti-inflammatory one week before the procedure, it will reduce the effect of the procedure.
Contraindications for PRP:
Blood disorders: thrombocytopenia, anemia, hipofibrinogenemiya; taking anticoagulants (drugs to reduce blood clotting); infectious diseases; treatment with corticosteroids; malignancies.
