ABOUT BOTULINIUM TOXINE

Botulinum toxin, known as "Botox" is the most popular and effective procedure for smoothing wrinkles and facial rejuvenation worldwide. The effect is temporary, does not require recovery time and the procedure is not complicated as other facial aesthetic treatments. Administrating a small amount of Botox into the muscle in order to "block" the nerve signals that control contractions, results in smoothed wrinkles for the next few months. It is used mainly to smooth wrinkles around the eyes, horizontal forehead and glabella. After the injection the botulinum toxin "relaxes" the muscle under the skin and wrinkles are reduced. The effect occurs gradually over 2-3 days up to two weeks after the injection while achieving remarkably smooth skin and the result is usually retains about 4-6 months.

BEFORE, DURING AND AFTER THE PROCEDURE

BEFORE: Tell your doctor if you have a problem with the nerves or muscles, or if you have shortness of breath, if you use any drugs, planning or are pregnant. Avoid alcohol at least one week before the treatment, and stop the use of aspirin and anti-inflammatory drugs two weeks before injection of botox. Your doctor will inspect the ability to move facial muscles within the injection zones and will inform you about all the risks of the procedure.

DURING: Your doctor will give you some brief injections directly into the facial muscles with a very thin needle that causes minor discomfort.

AFTER: During the first 4-6 hours after injection the treated area should not be massaged, pinched, do not lie down or stand in a horizontal position, then can return to normal activities. The full effect will be visible after 2 weeks and lasts about four months, sometimes up to six.
